Ambient Documentation vs. Structured Automation: What's the Difference?

Ambient documentation is the louder story. A model listens to the visit and produces a note. It is, in many cases, very good.

Structured automation is the quieter story. A model reads the data that already exists in the EHR — labs, vitals, orders, history — and produces a note that captures what the data implies. No microphone, no transcription, no privacy-of-spoken-room concerns. The note is grounded in structured facts, not paraphrase.

The two are not interchangeable. They serve different visits, different specialties, different reviewer tolerances. The teams that succeed with both will be the ones who don't pretend either one is universal.
